Bitcoin surged to a new all-time high in Australian dollar terms this week, rising to more than A$96,000 (US$62,500).
The previous record was about A$93,000 (US$60,936) in November 2021, before a spectacular crash saw the cryptocurrency shed around 70% of its value in a year. But Bitcoin has made an enormous comeback over the past 12 months, approaching six figures in Australia.
